ON 14-15 MAY 2021 IN SELARGIUS (CAGLIARI, SARDINIA) WAS THE RECOVERED FINALS OF THE 13° EDITION OF PRESTIGIOUS WORLD MUSIC AWARD PREMIO ANDREA PARODI. THE WINNER IS STILL LIFE, CRITICS AWARD TO ALESSIO ARENA.

Still Life duo with the song “Tempo” is the winner of the prestigious World Music Contest Premio Andrea Parodi. The artistic project is Italian and Portuguese, the duo lives in Barcelona, it is composed by the singer Margherita Abita and the violinist João Silva. They also won severa mentions: Best Music, Best Interpretation, Young public Award and Premio Bianca D’Aponte International Award.

Despite the many difficulties related to the pandemic, the Andrea Parodi Foundation successfully organized the finals of the 13th edition for 14 and 15 May, which was initially scheduled for last autumn but then postponed due to the health emergency.

The Critics Award went to Alessio Arena (Campania/Catalonia) with the song “Los niños que vuelan”; he also won the Mention for Best Lyrics and the Finalists Mention. He also won the Best Interpretation Mention of Andrea Parodi song. The Best Arrangement Mention was won by Stefania Secci Rosa (Sardinia/Portugal), and the International Jury Mention went to Maria Mazzotta (Salento). The other finalists were: Ars Nova Napoli (Campania); Eleonora Bordonaro (Sicily); Elena D`Ascenzo (Abruzzo); Kalascima (Salento); Maria Mazzotta (Salento); Danilo Ruggero (Sicily).

The event, under the artistic direction of Elena Ledda, took place in Si' e Boi Theatre in Selargius (Cagliari). It has been broadcasted in streaming on Facebook pages @FondazioneAndreaParodi, @EjaTv @SardegnaEventi24, @RaiRadio1 and @RaiRadioTuttaItaliana, media-partner of the festival.

Premio Andrea Parodi is the only Italian World Music Award, il was created in honour of the distinguished Sardinian artist Andrea Parodi, who passed 15 years ago; he had a highly valued career and was an international reference of World Music.

Gianmaurizio Foderaro and Ottavio Nieddu were the assigned presenters; on Saturday, May 15th, Pierpaolo Vacca has been the special guest, he’s an accordionist with a very personal style, he uses Sardinian roots and electronics and contempory sounds. On the same day the Foundation broadcasted “RAHIL” videoclip, produced by Parodi Foundation, on the song of Fanfara Station, the band who won “Andrea Parodi Critics Awards” on 2019.

The finalists performed in front of a Technical Jury (professionals, authors, musicians, poets, writers and songwriters) who assigned the winner and the mentions, and a Critical Jury (journalists), who assigned the Critics Award. Both juries, as in previous years, will be composed of authoritative exponents of the sector.

The winner gets several prizes, among which some concerts and participation in some of the most important Italian music festivals, partners of Premio Andrea Parodi, in their next Editions. Among them we have the "European Jazz Expo" in Sardinia, the “Folkest” in Friuli, not forgetting the very same Parodi Awards, further to other events to be announced. In addition to the aforementioned, the winners will be the recipients of a € 2,500 scholarship. The winner of the Critics' Awards will receive the production of a professional videoclip of their competition song, offered by the Andrea Parodi Foundation. One of the finalists will be invited to the Mare e Miniere Festival.

In the meantime the competition notice for 14° edition of PREMIO ANDREA PARODI is on line; the finals of 14° edition will take place in Cagliari on 14-15-16th October 2021.
