Gooikoorts folk festival from 2 to 4 July

Unlike other years, it is more exclusive, but with just as much 'enthusiasm', Muziekmozaïek vzw and Gooikoorts kick-off the folk festival summer. The focus of Gooikoorts 2021 is on listening concerts of a high level, from 2 to 4 July in Gooik.

We will have to wait another year for the well-known formula with 20 internationally colored concerts, an extensive children's entertainment zone, a varied range of attractive stalls, a well-attended instrument builder's market and a wide range of workshops. As always, those present will be more than right, because only they will be able to enjoy this unique edition of Gooikoorts, in which everything is slightly different, so that melancholic comparisons with other years can be left out.

We make a virtue of necessity to rebuild the festival from scratch. The concept is simple: 1 concert stage, 1 bar zone, a limited but tasty and healthy catering, a few (real) free stages, lots of space and space for fun and music.

What we do not want to lose is a fantastic program, with both Flemish and international top musicians. On the program are: Duo De Schepper - Sanczuk (VL), Pentaichon (GR), Airboxes (VL), Trio Durand - Millet - Raillard (FR), Vox Bigerri (FR), Tanxugueiras (SP), Cardboard Cabin (VL) , Laura Cortese Trio (US / VL), WÖR with mobile carillon and at the end the Estonian super quartet Curly Strings (EE). Gooikoorts can therefore rightly call itself, even in these unlikely times, an international folk festival.

What we do have to do is the camping, which may disappoint many people, but given the current measures it is almost impossible for us to organize this in a safe and regulated way. As the easing becomes clearer this could possibly be reconsidered, but for now we recommend distant visitors to look for alternative accommodation in the area.

Anyway: a real folk lover should not pass up this opportunity: All practical information and the full program can be found at www.gooikoorts.be and on the FB page of Gooikoorts.

Appointment on 2, 3 and 4 July 2021 in our pearl of the Pajottenland.
