Folkuspokus

new radio show in the middle of Germany

Local non-commercial radio stations "Radio K2R" (FM 90,9) and "Radio RheinWelle" (FM 92,5) started their co-operation in September 1997.
Since then people of the Rhein Main area can listen to Folkuspokus, a magazine which presents folk and traditional music mostly from Ireland. From Thursday (9-11 p.m.) to Thursday the hosts talk about Gaelic music, the Tønder Festival, Irish singers and songwriters, duets in traditional Irish music, Shane MacGowan's life and much more. Specials feature instruments like the guitar or the Irish flute, artists like Altan or regions like Donegal.

Often a few musicians talk about their music and play a piece of it. At least listeners won't forget that night when one of the hosts spoke Irish all the time and an Irish wolfhound appeared but refused to give an interview...

Local radio stations in Germany offer quite often folk radio programmes. Others are found in Düsseldorf, Münster, Bielefeld and Märkischer Kreis.
